Last spring, Drew and Taylor Woodard took off traveling around Nepal for an entire year. During the first month of their trip, Drew and Taylor’s translator brought them an adorable white puppy.
Taylor would often ask her translator, Harry, to pull over whenever an animal would be seen in the wild. Seeing how much Taylor and her husband adored animals, Harry decided to get them a gift. Harry took the couple to his home and presented Drew and Taylor with a three-week-old puppy.
The puppy’s mother had become ill, and the newborn needed someone to look after it. Even though Harry loves animals, he wasn’t in a position to care for the dog properly. When he saw how excited the Woodard’s got around animals, he figured he’d found the perfect owners for the tiny puppy.
Drew and Taylor gladly accepted the gift and named their new puppy Buda. Buda translates to “old man” in Nepali. After naming their pet, the hard work started. Drew and Taylor bottle-fed Buda for the next month, trained him and gave him lots of attention.
After that first month, Buda was ready to join the couple in their adventures. Buda has done lots of amazing things with the Woodards. The dog has traveled through the Himalayas, visited the cities, hiked through the jungle, and been in waterfalls. Often, the dog traveled inside of Taylor’s backpack.
Once Drew and Taylor’s trip was coming to an end, the couple knew they had to prepare Buda for the move back to the United States. Taylor was worried about Buda having to be quarantined. The Woodards were diligent about their vet visits, and after health exams and paperwork, Buda entered the United States easily.
Buda has been living in the United States with Drew and Taylor for several months now. The adorable dog loves accompanying Drew on road trips, and he loves cuddling with Taylor.
