What pops in your imagination when you hear the words “criminal genius?” Well, obviously someone who looks like they’re not capable of committing a crime, but what else? For us, we’re seeing someone knows the tools of the trade—someone who has mastered the art of not leaving any trace when they violate the law.
25-year-old Kara Probin from Wrexham, North Wales, had no idea she was living with a criminal genius. The only time this came to her attention was when she started baking cupcakes. She would lose around 15 from each batch. This puzzled her, so she decided to have a hidden camera installed in her kitchen.
The tale of the vanishing cupcakes
Probin developed a penchant for baking cupcakes during the lockdown. Once she hears the oven ding, she would place the cupcakes on the kitchen counter. She would busy herself with other things while waiting for the cupcakes to cool down. Interestingly, some of the cupcakes would go missing each time she would leave them unattended.
Lucky for her, the hidden camera captured who the cupcake bandit was! It was none other than her three-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, River!
Caught in the act
Probin left three cupcakes on the kitchen counter to test if the criminal genius would reveal himself. When she checked the footage, she saw her three-year-old German Pointer, River, eyeing the cupcakes! He even looked around to check if the coast was indeed clear before doing anything!
When he saw that there was no one else around, he tapped one of the cupcakes until they fell on the floor. After wolfing it down, he propped himself up again to steal another cupcake. When he was done eating the second one, he went up again to grab the last cupcake. Check out the adorable clip of the cupcake bandit below:
