Sato Project Saves Murray
Dogs suffer from viruses and illnesses like normal human beings. They have a wide variety of fatal diseases and infections that could be the end of a dog’s lifetime. These diseases usually get transmitted in many forms of contact like saliva, blood, and even a simple bark.
Tragedy fell upon the Weimaraner breed named Murray from Puerto Rico when his family abandoned him in Dead Dog Beach after learning he’s sick with distemper. It is a lethal and contagious virus among animals that attacks their respiratory and nervous systems. A dog’s chance of survival from this disease depends entirely on its immune system.
Luckily, The Sato Project rescued Murray before it was too late. Though he survived, it left him with quite an unusual appearance compared to other dogs.
The virus made him toothless, left him a disfigured head, and made him unable to keep his tongue inside his mouth. Despite all the odds, Murray remained true to his lovable self.
In fact, he was bound to undergo euthanasia because of his condition. However, the project was unsuccessful as Murray kept wagging his tail before the process could take place. They couldn’t end this adorable dog’s life.
His inspiring story paved the way for Murray to find his forever family. After the failed euthanasia, he met the Gallant family in Massachusetts that fostered him for a while.
Adopted
The family realized they couldn’t give Murray up later on. They finally decided to adopt him for good!
The Gallant family loved him despite his appearance. Eventually, they created an Instagram account solely for Murray for their friends and family to follow.
Instead of just friends and family followers, Murray received a lot of love online and gained a lot of followers over the years. The account became a platform to raise awareness about The Sato Project, rescue dogs, and distemper.
As of writing, the Instagram account, “murraythedisableddog” gained 35.2k followers and counting.
