It is difficult to retrieve a missing pooch, especially when the dog fled from your side because of anxiety. This is what this family from the United Kingdom experienced when their pooch, Floyd, fled their farm. Floyd, a young Dachshund, ran away from his home after another dog barked at him.
The bark could have frightened the pooch. Dachshunds are small dogs, so it is easy for them to get scared when bigger dogs bark at them. Floyd’s mom, Fern Holmes, saw the entire incident, so it is difficult for her not to worry about the pooch. Additionally, she does not know where the pooch went even after calling out the dog’s name numerous times.
Fern tried hard to locate the pooch but to no avail. When all her hopes got lost, the fur parent asked the help of her community in Middleton, and the community lent a helping hand right away. According to Fern, she did this through an announcement on her Facebook page. After she posted on Facebook, her neighbors shared the post, thereby giving the post enough traction.
The enormous support coming from the people around her made Fern very happy as well as hopeful that she would find the pooch.
One of the community members then sought the help of the Lost Dog Trapping Team. The members of this team are trained to find missing dogs using a simple trick. This simple trick is luring the pooch with his or her favorite food.
This is why the team asked Fern what the favorite food of Floyd is. Fern told them that the dog’s favorite food is bacon. So, the team started to put scents of bacon around. After three days, the dog went home because Floyd followed the smell of the bacon.
