Dog on TV – Never Work With Children and Animals
Since most animal shelters are full, volunteers from these shelters find it hard to look for potential homes to dogs. This is why most of these volunteers think of a new way so that the dogs get adopted. Global News figured out one way to increase the chance of dogs at adoption, and that is through their weekly adoptable pet segment.
Global News allows a special dog guest in a day. The anchors would then share the story of that specific dog to their audience. For them, it is their way of helping these dogs in finding potential adopters.
In one of their segments, Global News had Ripple as their guest of the day. The one-year-old Mastiff is an adorable pooch who loves goofing around. Global News’ Weather Man, Mike Sobel, introduced the pooch during his weather report. In the video, Sobel presented Ripple as his co-host for that day.
But since Ripple has no experience in weather reporting, the dog instead played with Sobel tug-of-war using the dog’s leash. Sobel got caught off guard with Ripple’s actions, and on live television, the two were seen wrestling for the rope. It was such a funny encounter because Sobel even commanded Ripple to sit down. The dog, however, did not mind and continued with his antics.
Although it was an embarrassment on live television, Sobel remained calm and professional. He handled the situation like a real expert on dogs. Sobel played for a while with the dog as the anchor was reporting, but Sobel did it with poise. In an interview, the anchor shared that he also has a dog, so he knows how to handle a dog’s playful attitude. Sobel did not feel embarrassed about the dog’s action because he knows that it was the dog’s way of showing his affection towards him.
